artist's statement

I am focussing on tiny spots beside the road. Spots which have lost their original smell of being new and clean. Spots that gain my interest by revealing the ravages of time, turned dirty, torn and used. These spots develop their own character like wrinkles on a human face. Full of wisdom and secrets. Full of reflection and desire. The beauty of decay.

Andreas Rühlow, born in 1969, university degree in physics, project manager. Since 1994 freelance photographer and both author and director of short films.
